Nail ideas by color
A color name is a starting point, not a shade. Two reds can sit a long way apart: one leans orange and looks warm on olive skin, another leans blue and looks sharper against cool undertones. When you save an idea, note the family (red, brown, black, nude) and then whether you want it lighter, deeper, warmer or cooler.
Coverage matters as much as hue. Sheer color lets the natural nail show through and grows out gently. Opaque color is bolder and shows regrowth sooner. Finish changes the read again: glossy looks wet and bright, matte looks flatter and more muted, and a cat eye or chrome finish moves with the light.
The guides in this section are sorted by the main color of each set, so a red guide is mostly red rather than containing one red nail among many. Use them to compare shades side by side, then ask your nail tech to swatch two or three options on a tip before you choose.
